Hammes Company Regional Vice President Meets with Director General of the World Health Organization
(Geneva, Switzerland) – Craig Beam, regional vice-president of Hammes Company recently met with Dr. Margaret Chan, Director General of the World Health Organization (“WHO”), in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Beam, who is Treasurer of the World Heart Federation, was involved in the meetings to discuss the importance of including issues related to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and stroke in the WHO’s millennium goals.
Dr. Chan, of the Peoples Republic of China, was recently appointed to the position of Director General after her predecessor died suddenly of a heart attack. Cardiovascular disease and stroke are the leading causes of death and disability in developing countries as well as the developed world.
