University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), one of the country’s leading academic medical and research institutions, engaged Hammes Company to be the Project Manager for the development of a new 208,000 SF Ambulatory Surgery Center in the Southwestern Medical District, near downtown Dallas.

With the intent of utilizing a private, for-profit model for the new facility, UTSW chose to depart from the traditional academic planning and development protocol, and engaged the resources of the nation’s leading healthcare facility planner and developer to guide this groundbreaking initiative. The attractive new seven-story building includes a full floor of hotel-like extended stay accommodations, diagnostics, lab and orthopedic clinics and one floor solely dedicated to ambulatory surgery and endoscopy. The project also includes a 625-vehicle, 250,000 SF parking structure.

This project was recognized as the "Architectural Showcase" in September 2008 by Healthcare Design magazine.
