Hammes Company was engaged as project manager in the development of the new Woodwinds Health Campus. The project was the collaboration effort between HealthEast Care System and Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, two of the most respected health care organizations in the Twin Cities. Community members, business leaders and physicians who saw a growing need for hospital and emergency care in this area encouraged the development of this campus concept.
HealthEast, Children’s, Hammes Company's team, a physician leadership group, and a community advisory board worked closely to develop an innovative hospital and outpatient center. Integrative healing therapies were incorporated into a broad scope of medical services. The goal was to offer the most innovative, unique and preferred resource for health care in the community. The purpose was promoting health and healing of body, mind and spirit.
Woodwinds was honored with the Vista Award for New Construction from the ASHE and AIA. The Vista Awards encourage, recognize and promote the value of a team approach to the successful execution of healthcare building projects, while focusing on team performance in the planning, design and construction of health facilities that are occupied and in use. The project also received Modern Healthcare’s Design Award in 2001.
