Franciscan Health System (FHS) engaged Hammes Company to assist in the planning and development of a new 80-bed hospital along with an adjoining office building. The new facility will serve about 60,000 people in the City of Gig Harbor and nearby counties. The hospital will be named St. Anthony Hospital and will be the second new hospital built in Washington in 30 years. Franciscan Health System was awarded a Certificate of Need (CON) to build Phase I, which includes developing a 32-acre greenfield site, building 80 beds for the hospital and shelling an additional 32 beds. This hospital will be the first to be constructed in Gig Harbor.
Hammes Company's strategic planning efforts included site selection and purchase strategies, zoning, growth and services recommendations as related to competition, and the entire CON application process. Hammes also developed the hospital's space and floor plans, circulation and parking plans - as well as operations, service lines, IT, and equipment planning. As Project Manager, we managed the all of the consultants and the budget including construction costs, soft costs and contingencies.
St. Anthony opened in March 2009 and has since garnered numerous regional and national awards for its planning and design.
