St. Vincent Health System, an affiliate of Catholic Health Initiatives
(CHI), engaged Hammes Company to manage and develop a major expansion
and renovation project at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center. The
project included pre-construction and construction phase
oversight, as well as architect and construction manager selection.
The project included a 26,000 SF emergency department which includes an ambulance drop-off area, a
complement of universal exam and major resuscitation rooms, and
enhanced waiting areas alongside a children’s playroom. Additionally,
St. Vincent’s Center for Women and Children was relocated from the main
campus to St. Vincent Infirmary and was renovated to augment St.
Vincent’s women and children services, as well as provide the State’s
most advanced labor and delivery unit. An entire floor was dedicated to CVICU/ICU treatment, while another floor was
constructed of shelled space for future expansion. Four surgery suites
and the PACU were renovated within the facility, while two
additional operating suites will accommodate St. Vincent’s more complex
orthopedic procedures.
The overall project was under budget by $2.1 million, allowing the
hospital to reallocate funds and purchase additional upgraded ED and OR
equipment.
