Hammes Company is developing a new nine-story patient tower addition to the existing St. Francis Medical Center campus in Grand Island, Nebraska. St. Francis Medical Center is an affiliate of Catholic Health Initiatives. The purpose of this project is to replace all existing private patient rooms, with larger, more functional family-friendly rooms. Future growth will be accommodated by shelling three floors that can accommodate up to 66 additional patients and 17 LDRPs in a new Maternal Child Center.
The NICU was designed so that each baby had a private room - the same as other patient rooms: allowing for flexibility to be used as a Postpartum Room in the future, if needed and providing parents nice rooming-in space to be with their baby (their own toilet / shower, sleeping bench, etc.) The addition will also include a new main entry and lobby, a pharmacy and dietary facilities.
