Hammes Company was engaged by St. Vincent Health as Project Manager for the development of a new, freestanding long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) on a 10-acre site adjacent to the St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital Campus. The new facility houses the Seton Specialty Hospital (SSH), an affiliate of St. Vincent Hospital and Ascension Health, St. Louis, Missouri.
Initially, Hammes Company provided St. Vincent Health with a Second Opinion Review of the proposed development and oversight process, along with an evaluation of the organization’s current operations. Hammes also provided suggestions for establishing a Construction Center of Excellence, giving St. Vincent Health the ability to manage their construction projects more efficiently.
As Project Manager, Hammes Company managed and reduced the risks associated with all phases of the project; providing leadership and functioning as an unbiased agent that reviewed all design and construction assumptions to keep the project on track. Hammes Company provided special coordination of all of SSH's internal departments and outside vendors with the construction process through scope, budget and schedule management.
The freestanding hospital accommodates 74 private beds, with shell space for future growth. The facility also accommodates administrative functions, a pharmacy, clinical lab, CT scanner, general X-ray, rehabilitation, a chapel, food service and dining areas.
The project was completed seven weeks ahead of the originally scheduled completion date, resulting in considerable cost savings.
