Sentara CarePlex West, Center for Health and Fitness, Hampton, VA

Hammes Company partnered with Sentara in the development and ownership of the 74,000 SF CarePlex West MOB and wellness center in Hampton, Virginia. Hammes and Sentara assembled several parcels to form the ten-acre site adjacent to Sentara's CarePlex Hospital.

After preparing a Master Plan for a mixed-use development on the acreage, Hammes Company secured rezoning, proffers, subdivided the site into three autonomous parcels, engineered and constructed all site improvements, and sold two parcels to a regional bank and a Hilton Hotel. The architectural design, standards and approval rights for these projects were reserved by Hammes.

The Center for Health and Fitness is anchored by a 36,000 SF wellness center owned by Hammes Company affiliates and operated by Power Wellness, the nation’s leading wellness center operator. Hammes is serving as both the property and leasing manager. The three-story facility also contains Sentara Rehabilitation, internal medicine, family practice, orthopedic prosthesis, bariatric surgeons and ophthalmology.

In 2008, this project was awarded the City of Hampton's Renaissance award for Best Design and Construction, and the Bronze award for an Outstanding Development Project in southeast Virginia by the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate.

In addition to CarePlex West, Hammes also owns five other Sentara facilities through our long-term relationship with the system.
