Hammes Company hires healthcare facility development expert

MILWAUKEE, Wis. and COLUMBUS, Oh., Nov.1, 2017 – Further enhancing its position as the nation’s leader in healthcare facilities development, Hammes Company (, has appointed Douglas Coover as vice president of facility development in Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. Coover brings an extensive background in project delivery and project management for large-scale capital programs successfully completed over the past two decades, which speaks to the depth and breadth of Coover’s capabilities. Most recently, Doug was appointed as an International Expert Consultant for the International Joint Commission and has deep “hands on” experience with strategic planning on large healthcare projects that require an extensive understanding and appreciation for Clinical operations and process improvement. 

“Doug’s passion for healthcare operations combined with his wealth of knowledge in facilities management and proven best practices managing projects on behalf of some of the nation’s leading healthcare systems, is an excellent complement to our firm’s  mission and reputation for quality service,” says Chris Kay, Hammes Company’s president and chief operating officer.

Most recently, Mr. Coover served as director-of design and construction for a major four-hospital system on the east coast. Prior to that Doug served as a healthcare architect and planner. Doug received his Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the University of Idaho. Douglas is an active member for the American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), and Center for Health Design (CHD).
