Hammes to collaborate on $1 billion healthcare campus transformation program

MILWAUKEE, Wis. and CLEVELAND, Oh., Oct. 5, 2017 – Hammes Company (hammesco.com), the nation’s No. 1 healthcare developer, has been engaged by The MetroHealth System to collaborate on the $1 billion campus transformation in Cleveland, Ohio.

The cornerstone of the campus transformation will be a new 12-story hospital tower with 270 private rooms offering advantageous views north to downtown and south to green space. The tower will also house an extensive range of departments, including Medical/Surgery, Burn, Labor/Delivery/Recovery, Anti-Partum, Post-Partum, NICU, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, Interventional Radiology, Imaging, Linear Accelerator, Endoscopy, Neurology, Administration, Kitchen, Lobby, Support Services and other areas tied to general hospital operations.

Other essential projects in the campus transformation include a connector building to the existing Critical Care Pavilion, parking garage, new loading dock, central utility plant and helipads.

The project will apply Lean Delivery Principles designed to eliminate waste, maximize every dollar, improve workflow, reduce patient wait times, improve safety, and enhance the overall delivery of care.

For the duration of the six-year project, subject matter experts from Hammes Company, Moody and Signet will work in a collaborative environment.

“Hammes Company is honored to be part of MetroHealth’s campus transformation that will shape the future of healthcare in Cuyahoga County,” said Chris Kay, President and Chief Operating Officer at Hammes Company. “The rigorous Lean process-driven approach will be key in charting the project’s strategic course and ensuring a transformation that accommodates MetroHealth’s extensive range of current and future needs.”

Hammes Company has managed more than 57 million square feet of complex expansion, renovation, replacement and greenfield campus development projects valued over $23 billion.
